About

Startup Village Amsterdam is a startup campus at Amsterdam Science Park, in the east of the city. It began in 2016 and was completed in 2018, built from converted shipping containers together with Amsterdam Science Park, UvA Ventures Holding and an architecture practice, and the site states that it is powered by UvA Ventures Holding. That phrase is the limit of what is published about the relationship: no page states ownership or a legal structure, and none connects the holding company to a university. What the village runs under its own name is the site and its community. It presents itself as a place where science, business and startups meet, with a stated focus on artificial intelligence and quantum technology. Startups can rent a private office or a flex desk, use free coworking space, and book meeting and event rooms with support and catering. Alongside the space it lists a startup track, growth programmes, co-founder matching, international expansion support and a quantum community, and it sells knowledge tours, campus days and hackathons to companies and public bodies.

What they offer

  • Private offices and flex desks for startups
  • Free coworking space
  • Meeting and event spaces with event support and catering
  • Co-founder matching for founders
  • Knowledge tours, campus days and hackathons for companies and public organisations
  • Directory of service partners for startups

Programmes

  • The Nursery
  • Growth Programs
  • Quantum Community

Good to know

  • The site describes itself as powered by UvA Ventures Holding without stating ownership, a legal structure or any university relationship, so nothing beyond that wording should be assumed about who stands behind it.
  • Offices, desks and rooms are rented on commercial terms. Only the coworking space is described as free.
  • Its reach is one campus at Amsterdam Science Park rather than the city or the country.
  • It lists international expansion support without saying whether that means helping foreign startups land in the Netherlands or Dutch startups go abroad.
