If you are raising a seed or Series A round for a digital technology company with an environmental or social purpose, 4impact capital is a Netherlands based fund you can approach directly.
About
4impact capital is a venture capital firm with an office in The Hague that invests in early stage digital technology companies across Europe, mainly at seed and Series A. It groups what it backs under two headings. Planet covers energy transition, regenerative and circular systems, smart industry and infrastructure, and digital resilience. People covers equality and inclusion, health and wellbeing, and digital safeguarding. In every case the company has to be using digital technology, and the firm states that it looks for impact built into what the company sells rather than added afterwards. It manages more than one fund vehicle, and its second fund is classified under Article 9 of the European sustainability disclosure rules. For a founder who has moved to the Netherlands, 4impact capital is one possible source of equity money: a commercial investor that takes a shareholding in return for capital, approached directly by founders who are raising.
What they offer
- Impact assessment framework applied to the companies it invests in
Good to know
- A commercial investor. It takes a shareholding in return for capital and invests selectively, so most approaches do not lead to an investment.
- It funds companies, not people. It provides no help with residence permits, housing, registration or any other part of settling in the Netherlands.
- Its remit is digital technology companies with an environmental or social purpose. A business outside that scope is not a fit however strong it is.
