About
Accare is a specialist provider of youth mental health care, known in Dutch as jeugd-ggz. Its registered name is Stichting Universitaire en Algemene Kinder- en Jeugdpsychiatrie Noord-Nederland, and its head office is in Assen. It diagnoses and treats children and adolescents with conditions including ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism, trauma, eating disorders and behavioural problems, including young people with a mild intellectual disability, and it involves parents in treatment. Treatment methods named on its site include cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, family therapy, trauma treatment, parent training and medication. Care is given in several settings: outpatient clinics, treatment at the family home, online treatment, intensive residential care and treatment inside schools. It works from around 25 locations spread across the provinces of Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel, Flevoland and Gelderland. It describes itself as university affiliated and says it carries out research into how well its treatments work.
