Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. More about where our information comes from

For a newcomer family in the Eemsdelta area, the campus is the local route into Dutch secondary education: its ISK class takes young people who do not yet speak Dutch and prepares them for mainstream schooling.

About

Campus Eemsdelta is a combined education and community campus in Appingedam, in the Eemsdelta municipality in the province of Groningen. It was developed jointly by the secondary school board VO Eemsdelta, the vocational college Noorderpoort and the municipality, replacing school buildings that had no long term future, and the shared building was designed to be earthquake resistant and to generate its own energy. Several functions sit on one site. Secondary education includes practical training, a pre university track and an ISK class, the international transition class for newly arrived young people who do not yet speak Dutch. Vocational programmes cover healthcare and social services. Alongside the classrooms the building houses cultural and sports activities for young people roughly between eight and twenty seven, with facilities including a sports hall, a beach volleyball court and a climbing wall. No page names a separate legal entity or governing body for the campus itself, so its organisational form is a partnership rather than an institution of its own.

What they offer

  • Secondary education including an ISK class for newly arrived pupils
  • Vocational healthcare and social services programmes
  • Cultural and sports activities for young people

Good to know

  • It serves the Eemsdelta area. Admission and catchment are decided by the participating school boards, not by the campus as such.
  • The ISK class is for young people of secondary school age. It is not a language course for adults.
  • The campus is a shared site rather than a legal body. Enrolment, fees and pupil administration run through VO Eemsdelta or Noorderpoort.
