A student can apply here for a placement on a real assignment from a company, and an organisation with a water technology question can engage the centre through a continuing subscription, a single project, or a consortium in which CEW can also act as lead applicant. Its base and its laboratories are in Leeuwarden, and larger tests run at demonstration sites elsewhere in the Northern Netherlands.
About
Centre of Expertise Water Technology, written CEW, is an applied research and learning centre for questions from across the water cycle. Its privacy statement names the legal entity as Stichting Centre of Expertise Water Technologie, and it has its own board and its own premises in Leeuwarden. It works with students, teachers and researchers from NHL Stenden Hogeschool and Van Hall Larenstein among others, which its own pages describe as a collaboration rather than a parent relationship. Its research runs from drought and water consumption to circular water management and contaminants such as PFAS and pharmaceutical residues. Companies and public bodies can work with it in three ways: a continuing subscription for organisations with recurring water technology questions, a one to one project to validate a technology or product, or a consortium, where CEW says it can help find partners and external funding and can act as lead applicant. It names SPRONG, TKI and EFRO among the schemes it has worked with. For students it offers placements on assignments that come directly from the market, and it works with universities of applied sciences to improve water technology curricula. Partners get access to its Waterapplicatiecentrum in Leeuwarden and to demonstration sites elsewhere in the Northern Netherlands for testing at a larger scale.
