dbieb, legally Stichting Bibliotheken Midden-Fryslan, is a public library foundation running six branches in the municipalities of Leeuwarden and Tytsjerksteradiel, in Friesland, with locations including Leeuwarden, Burgum, Grou, Gytsjerk and Stiens. Beyond lending physical books, e-books and audiobooks, it runs a support programme called dbieb helpt. That programme offers free small-group Dutch classes for newcomers, held at several locations and joined by prior enrolment; general reading, writing and numeracy support for adults whatever their first language; a free ten-lesson course on using a computer, a mobile phone and the internet; and a weekly walk-in point for help with online government services and the DigiD identification system. dbieb also runs school partnerships, youth programming, author events and workshops, and it rents out meeting space. It is registered as a Dutch foundation with Cultural ANBI status, which means donations to it can qualify for extra tax relief.
