About
The Dutch Startup Association, or DSA, describes itself as an independent body representing startups, scale-ups and innovation in the Netherlands. It was set up in 2017 by startup founders who decided their separate requests for political attention would be heard better if they acted together, and its founding board was drawn from startup representatives across the Dutch regions and from fields such as health technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain and media. Google is named on the site as the first founding partner, funding and supporting the launch. The association sells memberships to startups and lists five things a member gets: clear explanations of the rules and regulations that affect them, help being heard by politicians and policymakers, a place in a growing network of startups and scale-ups where knowledge and problems are shared, a say in which issues its lobbyists work on, and a practical approach. Its stated work is lobbying for startup-friendly policy, challenging legislation it believes holds young companies back, getting founders into media and political discussions, and moving knowledge between founders and their teams. It publishes papers, runs events, keeps a community, circulates petitions and sends a newsletter. Its published address is on Singel in Amsterdam.
