About
Economic Board Utrecht, usually shortened to EBU, calls itself an independent connector for the Utrecht region. It brings companies, governments and knowledge institutions from the region behind one shared goal: a region that is healthy, sustainable and economically strong. The work is agenda-setting rather than service delivery. The board raises the questions and opportunities it sees as decisive for the future of the region, links people, organisations, knowledge and expertise, and backs initiatives that add to broad prosperity, the Dutch policy idea of brede welvaart. As a strategic counterpart it discusses the economic future of the region with government both on request and unasked, concentrating on large societal transitions and on the climate for business location, knowledge, research and investment. It also seeks cooperation beyond the region, including with partners in The Hague and Brussels. The board is chaired by the mayor of Utrecht, has a director, and counts more than thirty members, and a separate Young Economic Board Utrecht involves a younger group of professionals. Its office address is on Stationsplein in Utrecht.
