About
Entrance, Centre of Expertise Energy, is part of Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen and works on the energy transition through applied research and education. It states on its own about page that it is part of Hanze, its general email sits on a Hanze domain, and its teaching is delivered at that institution; what it holds separately is its own domain, brand, addresses and a defined research and education offer covering energy alone. Its structure has two parts. Six professorships, each made up of a professor and a knowledge circle of lecturers and outside experts, carry out the research, and academics in these groups can work towards a doctorate supervised jointly with a university. Six learning communities bring lecturers, lecturer-researchers and student researchers together with people from working practice. Five themes organise the projects: sustainable mobility, renewable fuels and sustainable gases, local and regional energy strategies, industrial transformation, and system integration. Entrance also develops and delivers Hanze's energy education, including energy minors, master's teaching and a summer school, and it gives guided tours of its site to groups.

Good to know
- Admission, enrolment, tuition and student services are handled by Hanze University of Applied Sciences. Entrance develops and delivers the energy teaching but is not the institution you apply to.
- Its subject is energy. Hanze's other centres of expertise and faculties cover different fields and are approached separately.
- Doctorates are awarded by a partner university under joint supervision, not by the centre or by the university of applied sciences.
- Its work is centred on Groningen and the surrounding region, and it runs no service for people arranging a move to the Netherlands.
