Expatdesk Nijmegen

Nijmegen

An online Nijmegen guide helping people from abroad find information about housing, finances, insurance, city life and practical settling-in tasks.

From the Flux Forward organisation register · Not edited on this site How we check this

Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

Use it for the small administrative questions that catch newcomers to Nijmegen out: where housing is actually listed, what the local tax bill covers, where that bill turns up, and what you have to arrange yourself.

About

Expatdesk Nijmegen is a website rather than a walk in desk: an English language guide for people from other countries who have moved to Nijmegen and the area around it. It gathers the practical questions a newcomer runs into onto a small set of pages. Housing is the largest section, pointing to the organisations and websites that list homes to rent and to buy, with further pages for people letting out or buying a property. Other pages explain the local tax demand and note that the bill may arrive in a Dutch government online account rather than by post, describe how household waste collection is regulated, cover insurance, and introduce the city and the surrounding area. A settling in page sets out what someone arriving without help from a relocation service has to arrange for themselves. Enquiries go through a contact form. The site publishes a postal address in Nijmegen but names no legal entity, registration number or operator.

What they offer

  • English language information pages about living in Nijmegen and the surrounding area
  • Housing information, including where homes to rent and to buy are listed
  • Settling in guidance for arrivals without a relocation service
  • Explanations of local taxes, waste collection and insurance

Good to know

  • It publishes information and does not act for you. Registration, permits and tax matters are still handled by the municipality, the immigration service and the tax administration.
  • Its geography is Nijmegen and the area immediately around it.
  • The site names no operator, legal entity or funder, so there is no organisation behind it whose accountability you can check.
