Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. More about where our information comes from

Free, staged and built for people who arrived as refugees: an online entry course, then an incubator with a business coach and student consultants, then mentoring and investor readiness.

About

Forward Inc is the public name of a foundation registered in Amsterdam that holds Dutch public benefit status. Its stated aim is to help forcibly displaced people pursue their entrepreneurial plans and become economically self reliant, and its programmes are free and form a sequence. An entry programme is an online course of about eight weeks built around recorded training, practical assignments, peer learning and weekly progress meetings. An incubator then takes a cohort for several months, pairing each participant with a business coach and university student consultants and ending in a demo day. A growth programme provides one to one mentoring for people who already sell a product or service. An investor readiness track works on the pitch, the financial model and the market approach for businesses that have first customers and are raising money. A shorter online course is given in Arabic. Volunteers join as coaches, mentors and student consultants, and companies join as partners. The foundation lists offices in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

What they offer

  • Free entrepreneurship programmes for newcomers, staged from idea to investment
  • Business coaching and mentoring by volunteers from companies
  • University student consultants assigned to participating businesses
  • Demo day and investor pitch events for participants

Programmes

  • Digital Entrepreneurship Program
  • Forward Incubator
  • Growth Program
  • Investor Readiness
  • Business and Start-up Booster, given in Arabic

Good to know

  • Its programmes are for forcibly displaced people. That is the stated audience and it is narrower than newcomers in general.
  • Places are limited and the later programmes select from the earlier ones, so entry is through the online course rather than directly.
  • It supports business building. It does nothing about permits, housing or municipal registration.
