This is the body behind the health steps a family doctor does not handle: tuberculosis control, which has its own appointment line, the national childhood vaccinations, travel and occupational vaccination, and a youth consultation office in each municipality.
About
GGD Drenthe is a municipal health service, the kind of public body that Dutch municipalities keep up together to carry out public health tasks for their area. It works across the province of Drenthe and its main location is at Mien Ruysweg in Assen, in a building shared with the safety region and the fire service. Youth health care is one of its visible tasks: every municipality in the province has at least one consultation office for babies and young children, a youth nurse can be reached by telephone or chat on set days, and its site links to the online file in which parents follow a child's health records. It carries out the childhood vaccinations of the national immunisation programme, for which children receive an invitation letter at nine, ten and fourteen years old, and it vaccinates at several locations across the province. Other services with their own telephone lines are travel advice and occupational vaccination, nurses for sexual health, tuberculosis control, an advice and reporting point for worrying behaviour, and care coordination for victims of human trafficking.
