From the Flux Forward organisation register · Not edited on this site How we check this

Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

Its free online self-help programmes on work stress, worrying, low mood, sleep and mindfulness need no referral, and one of them is written for the family and relatives of someone with mental health problems.

About

GGZ Friesland is a specialist mental health organisation, a ggz provider rather than a GGD: it treats individual patients and does not carry out public health duties for municipalities. It works from twelve locations spread across the province of Friesland. Its care is described around recovery, which it explains as either getting better or learning to live with vulnerabilities, and it involves family and close relatives in treatment when the patient agrees, alongside staff who have their own experience of mental illness. People cannot refer themselves. A family doctor makes the referral, and that doctor can instead refer to the practice nurse for mental health care working inside the doctor's own practice; after registration the organisation invites the person to an intake interview, usually preceded by a questionnaire. Areas of care that appear in its published patient accounts include trauma disorders, eating disorders, developmental disorders, regional teams and help with housing and work. It explains publicly how compulsory care works under Dutch law, covering both the crisis order a mayor can issue and the care authorisation issued by a court.

What they offer

Good to know

  • People cannot register themselves. A family doctor makes the referral.
  • It works in the province of Friesland. A reader elsewhere in the north would be pointed at a provider that does not cover them.
  • The site, including the self-help programmes, is published in Dutch.
