About
Gilde Equity Management is a private equity firm, called a participatiemaatschappij in Dutch, meaning a company that invests money in other companies and takes an ownership share in them. It describes itself as independent and says it invests in medium-sized and large companies that have their roots in the Benelux and hold ambitions outside it. It names four moments at which it steps in: succession in a family business, whether the company passes inside or outside the family; the separation of a company or a business unit from a larger group so that it can continue on its own; a management buy-out; and growth capital for a company that wants to take a further step. It says the Gilde name goes back to 1982, when its founders were among the first to use private equity in the Netherlands, and that it has invested as Gilde Equity Management since 1996. Its Dutch office is at Landgoed Heemstede in Houten and its Belgian office is in Antwerp, and the site is published in Dutch and English.
