An international student arriving in The Hague can join the citywide introduction period through it, and its events are deliberately run in English so that students who do not speak Dutch can take part.
About
HI The Hague is the shared student introduction and student community for the city of The Hague. It is not a separate organisation with a legal identity of its own. It sits inside Platform Student en Stad, in which the city's higher education institutions, its municipality and its student organisations work together, and it is published on that platform's website. HI The Hague consists of two student committees. The Events committee organises the official citywide introduction period for all students in the city, working with the education institutions, student and student sports organisations and the municipality, and it also runs a winter programme and a student DJ contest that return each year. The Reporters committee makes social media and website content showing what the student city has to offer. The introduction period is presented as the moment to make friends, get to know the city and begin studying. All events are open to Dutch speaking and international students, the working language at events is English, Dutch speaking student chaperones are always present, and alcohol is not served to anyone under eighteen. Students can also take part by signing up as a mentor for the introduction period.
