About
Hive.Mobility describes itself as the innovation centre for mobility in the northern Netherlands, based in Groningen. It is a partnership rather than a company selling a service: knowledge and education institutions, government bodies, businesses and non-profit organisations work in it together on smarter and cleaner transport of both people and goods. Its priorities come from an innovation agenda drawn up by all of its partners. The work it names includes hydrogen powered bus services, autonomous transport across different vehicle types, cargo bikes and drones, an agreement on sustainable city logistics, and cooperation between logistics networks. Solutions are developed for the northern region with the intention that they can later be used more widely. It offers companies, government bodies, students and researchers a way to develop, test and apply mobility ideas in the region, and it works to make the north visible as a place for smart and sustainable mobility and logistics. It is steered by a board drawn from the region's universities, its vocational college, the municipality and the province, and run day to day by a small programme office.
