About
Huis voor de Sport Groningen is a stichting, a Dutch foundation, set up in 2001 and based in the city of Groningen. It works throughout the province to get more people moving, and it does this mainly through organisations rather than by serving individuals directly. Sports clubs can get help under its Vitale Club approach, which covers running a club soundly in organisational and financial terms and opening it up to work with other local bodies. Municipalities use it for sport and exercise policy, advice on sports accommodation and the design of activity programmes. Schools can get advice on how to organise physical education and help to run sport programmes. Employers can use it for coaching on health at work and for support with personnel matters. Its Arbeidsloket handles employment questions for clubs and other organisations, including payroll administration, the rules on volunteer payments, sports coaching staff and tax. Since 2010 it has been led by a director who is also the statutory board member, with a supervisory board above that role.

Good to know
- A private foundation working for and with municipalities, not part of them. Formal policy and funding decisions stay with municipalities and governing bodies.
- The four groups it addresses are clubs, schools, municipalities and employers. Residents are the intended beneficiaries but are not described as approaching it directly.
- Its pages mention nothing aimed at people who have recently moved to the Netherlands, and the site is in Dutch.
