About

HyNorth is a Dutch foundation with its registered office on the Concourslaan in Groningen. Its subject is the hydrogen economy of the northern Netherlands. Its own pages set out the problem it addresses: building hydrogen value chains is too complex and slow for a single company, so it acts as a chain coordinator with support from regional business, government and knowledge institutions. It lists why it considers the region suited to green hydrogen: port infrastructure and transport links, a North Sea location for offshore electricity production, grid connections to Norway and Denmark, existing gas transport and storage that can be adapted, chemical clusters and other industry as buyers, and regional research capacity. It publishes an investment plan for hydrogen in the northern Netherlands containing a roadmap and an implementation plan, offered for download. It also runs a partner network in three tiers, open to startups, companies, knowledge institutions and public bodies working on the energy transition in the region, with partnerships running for three years and including recurring partner sessions and field trips.
