More about where our information comes from

It keeps an office in Amsterdam and invests in early stage semiconductor and nanotechnology companies, so a founder who has moved here to build one could approach it for capital. Nothing on its pages covers visas, relocation or registration.

About

imec.xpand is a venture capital fund for early stage deep technology companies. It describes itself as an independent global fund and concentrates on semiconductor and nanotechnology developments where imec, the research institute for nanoelectronics and digital technology, can shape how the technology is built. The fund states that it is the only venture capital fund with first line access to imec innovations, and that companies in its portfolio can use imec cleanroom facilities, low volume manufacturing and the institute's technical network. Its team presents technological expertise and a hands on approach as what allows it to judge technology risk in young deep technology companies. The fund lists two offices, one in the imec tower in Leuven in Belgium and one on the Fred. Roeskestraat in Amsterdam. It publishes no fund size, no ticket size and no Chamber of Commerce number. This is an investor rather than a support organisation for individuals: it publishes no advice service, training, relocation help or information desk, and it invests in companies rather than in people.
