About
Innokite is a startup incubator in Groningen, backed by the University of Groningen and supported by regional partners. It works with people whose business idea comes out of research or specialist knowledge: doctoral candidates examining what their research could become, academics testing whether a company is a workable route for an idea, students, graduates and early stage founders. The programme has two tiers. The first is a shared phase of workshops and group activities that build basic business skills and help people form teams. The second is modular, made up of short focused units chosen to fit the startup's field, which the incubator groups as digital and deep technology, medical and health technology, and energy transition and clean technology, and to fit the route being taken, such as a university spin out, a licence or an impact business. Membership runs for a year, after which people move into an alumni community. In practical terms it provides co-working space in Groningen, mentoring, introductions in the northern startup scene, and access to chemistry, biology and engineering laboratory facilities. Applications are assessed case by case, and people it cannot help are pointed to other organisations in the regional ecosystem.

Good to know
- It states on its own about page that it can no longer act as a facilitator for the Dutch startup visa, and points people to the immigration service and to the official facilitator list instead. Someone who already holds that permit through another facilitator can still join.
