Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

It is an English language starting point for moving to the city, collecting in one place the routes to municipal registration, the formalities desk, housing information, the northern jobs platform and English event listings.

About

International Groningen is the English language section of the Groningen city website. The privacy statement for the site names a city marketing foundation, with an address on the Gedempte Zuiderdiep in Groningen, as the organisation responsible for it, so the publisher is a marketing foundation and not a government service. The portal groups its material under living, studying, working, doing business and discovering Groningen. Much of what it does is signposting: it lists the separate platforms an international in the city is likely to need, including the municipality for registration at city hall and other city services, the International Welcome Center North for government formalities, a joint housing information site, a northern jobs platform, student life sites, an English language event agenda and an English language news outlet for the north. It also writes its own practical pages, for example on employment rights and where to get free legal advice, alongside articles and a podcast whose episodes cover cycling, Dutch formalities, culture shock and building a career in the Netherlands.

Good to know

  • It is published by a city marketing foundation, not by the municipality, even though it sits on the city domain and links to municipal services.
  • Most of what it offers is signposting: the formalities themselves are carried out by the bodies it points to.
  • It covers the city of Groningen, and the platforms it points to are the ones serving that city and the wider north.
