Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

For somebody who has recently arrived and wants to meet other internationals, this is one of the better known routes to English language social events and to answers written by other members on housing, banking, taxes and daily life.

About

InterNations is a commercial online network for expats, launched in 2007 and now running local member communities in cities around the world. The Netherlands pages are the country entry point to those Dutch communities rather than a separate Dutch body: no Dutch office, Dutch legal entity or Dutch contact route appears on the pages it publishes, and joining happens through the global site. What members get locally is a mix of gatherings, from small meet-ups and shared meals to larger city parties, plus online events, groups organised around shared interests, discussion threads where members answer each other on questions such as which neighbourhood suits a family or how Dutch schooling works, and guides covering banking, taxes, insurance and mortgages. Individual events are announced and hosted by members themselves and are written in the host's own voice. The site names Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam as the Dutch cities with the biggest international populations, and the events it lists are spread across several cities. The platform carries advertising and openly sells advertising space, so it operates as a business rather than as a voluntary association.

What they offer

  • Local expat events in Dutch cities, in person and online
  • Interest based member groups
  • Member forums and question threads about life in the Netherlands
  • Written guides on practical subjects including banking, taxes, insurance and mortgages

Good to know

  • It is an advertising funded commercial platform, not a voluntary association or a public service.
  • It is the Netherlands section of a global platform. Membership, accounts and support are global rather than Dutch, and no Dutch office or entity is published.
  • Individual events are organised and hosted by members, so what is on offer depends on who is hosting.
