About
The Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg, written ISO, is a national organisation that speaks for students in Dutch higher education. Its members are the central participation councils, the student parties that sit on them, and student unions at universities and universities of applied sciences, and it has a covenant with other national student umbrella groups. It is run by students: a board of five serves full time for a year, with part time staff supporting across board years. Its main work is representation. It develops positions with its members and takes them to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, to political parties, to the umbrella bodies of the institutions and to the press, and says it does not rule out public action. Its central theme is student participation in institutional decision making, which it argues needs proper support at every institution. Alongside this its site answers common student questions on student finance and study debt, binding study advice, enrolment, selection and matching, the student travel product, health insurance through its own collective scheme, accessibility, and participation rules. Students who need help with a dispute can contact its legal bureau. It is based in Utrecht.

- Its members are participation councils and student parties, not individual students, so a student takes part through their own institution's council.
