If you are a researcher at one of the four Amsterdam institutions and want to protect a result, file a patent, apply for European funding or start a spin-off, this is the office that does it, in English and at no charge to you.
About
A knowledge transfer office is the part of a university that helps move research results and intellectual property out of the institution so they can be used by society or by business. IXA does that job for four Amsterdam institutions at once: the university medical centre, the university of applied sciences, the university and the free university. It works with researchers from every discipline, from engineering, mathematics and life sciences to the arts, humanities and social sciences. Its business and impact developers help with business plans for knowledge intensive spin-offs, with working out what a research result could be used for, with finding an external partner, and with money for feasibility studies and testing a concept. Grant advisers at each institution support applications for national and European research funding, free of charge for that institution's staff. Legal counsels handle contracts, confidentiality agreements, intellectual property, patent applications and material transfer agreements. IXA also runs workshops and training for researchers on turning research into impact, and has desks at seven locations across the four institutions.
