About
Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Drenthe is the Drenthe fund within the national Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur. It shares the national brand and website with the Friesland and Groningen funds, but it is a distinct registered entity with its own board, advisory council, donation account and Chamber of Commerce number, and it recruits its own ambassadors in the province. What it pays for is the club subscription or lesson fee so a child from a household with too little money can take part for a year in an activity such as football, hockey, guitar, hiphop, dance or swimming lessons. Twelve Drenthe municipalities take part: Aa en Hunze, Assen, Borger-Odoorn, Coevorden, De Wolden, Emmen, Hoogeveen, Meppel, Midden-Drenthe, Noordenveld, Tynaarlo and Westerveld. Parents can start at the fund's club finder or ask someone for help, but the request itself is filed by an intermediary the fund calls a Meerkracht: a teacher, youth worker, debt counsellor, social worker or other professional who follows the child and knows the household's finances.

Good to know
- Parents cannot apply directly. The request must be filed by a professional who follows the child, such as a teacher, youth worker, debt counsellor or social worker; sports clubs and culture providers cannot act as that intermediary either.
- Cover extends to the twelve participating Drenthe municipalities. Families elsewhere are directed to the fund for their own province, and the Friesland and Groningen funds are separate entities with their own boards and application routes.
- Support is for children and young people up to eighteen and covers participation costs, so it is not general income support or a grant paid to the household.
