Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Friesland is the Frisian fund within the national Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur. Where a household cannot cover the cost, it pays the club subscription or lesson fee together with the equipment a child needs, so the child can keep playing sport or taking music, dance or theatre lessons. It is a separately registered entity with its own board and donation account. Sixteen municipalities take part, including Ameland, Schiermonnikoog, Terschelling and Vlieland, so the four inhabited Wadden islands are inside its area. A parent can begin with an online check that shows without obligation whether the family qualifies and what sport and culture is available nearby. The application itself is then filed by a professional the fund calls an intermediary: a teacher, youth worker, debt counsellor, social worker or comparable person already in contact with the family. The fund also issues material that clubs and culture providers use to tell their members it exists, and it works alongside other Frisian organisations that help households with children's costs.
