Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

A founder who has moved here and needs a first outside investment can raise through it without negotiating each angel deal separately, because the note is standardised and the platform prepares the documents. Its pages are in English.

About

Leapfunder is a commercial online investment platform operated by a Dutch private limited company with its legal address in Amsterdam, and it lists a second address in Berlin. The platform introduces early stage startups to a list of angel investors in Europe and handles the transaction around the investment. Its central instrument is a standardised convertible note, which the site presents as the thing that makes small tickets workable: the stated minimum is about 1,000 euro per investor, so a group of small backers can together put up a first round. Startups and investors each open an account. Leapfunder prepares the legal documents, provides the payment environment, and states that money is refunded if the startup does not raise enough for the round to complete. Investors then manage their portfolio through the site and can stay in contact with the companies they back. Alongside the transactions it publishes an academy, including an article series about finding investors and handling funding, and it runs online sessions for founders and for investors. It is a business rather than a public scheme, and it invests none of its own money.

  • Leapfunder Academy, including an article series on finding investors and handling funding

Good to know

  • It is a commercial platform, not a public funding scheme, and it invests none of its own money.
  • Investors decide individually whether to take part, so a listing is not funding.
  • If a round does not raise enough to complete, the money is refunded and the round does not happen.
