About
LIFE Cooperative is a cooperative whose members are companies working in life sciences, health and medical technology, and it works from an office in Groningen. It describes its purpose as strengthening its members' position in the Life Sciences and Health sector by arranging networking and cooperation, and by giving them access to talent, knowledge, facilities and funding. Its work falls into three parts. Lobbying together means the member firms addressing governments and research, knowledge and education institutions as one group. Organising together means practical measures carried out jointly: shared training, combined purchasing of laboratory equipment and materials, and joint attendance at international trade fairs and congresses. Developing together means building research, development and supply chains between members, with named examples in biomarker validation, biomaterial development, and 3D imaging and printing. The published member list shows the kind of companies involved: contract laboratories for pharmaceutical development, a medical microbiology and clinical chemistry diagnostics organisation, developers of antibacterial coatings, of encapsulation technology, of cervical cancer screening and of implant material screening, a laboratory automation firm, and a medical sterilisation centre.
