The Housing Hotline is presented in English on its own site, and the free legal helpline covers enrolment, tuition fees, student finance and appeals against an institution's decisions, which are rules an international student here also has to deal with.
About
LSVb, the Landelijke Studentenvakbond, is the national union that speaks for students in Dutch higher education. It publishes a vision on higher education condensed into six positions, with separate position papers on mental wellbeing, student participation, international affairs, the funding of higher education, student housing, digitalisation, decentralised admission and internships. Alongside that lobbying work it runs services students can use directly. The Studentenlijn is a free legal helpline: a student sends in a question about exams, theses, binding study advice, deregistration, tuition fees, internship pay, student finance from DUO, the student travel product, complaints, objections or appeals, and legal staff explain what their rights are and what they can do next. Housing questions go instead to the Housing Hotline, which the union started with the student network ESN and which covers housing, landlords and tenants' rights. Its services section also lists support for student representation bodies and a student wellbeing fund. It works from an office on Drieharingstraat in Utrecht.
