M Ventures is a corporate venture capital fund. Its own site describes it as the strategic corporate venture capital fund of Merck and gives its headquarters in Amsterdam, with further offices in Germany, Israel and the United States. The site states that the fund began in 2009, that its fund allocation is 600 million euro, and that it has made more than a hundred investments. It splits its work into two groups. Under biotechnology it looks at treatments for difficult diseases and at tools and technologies for research, development and manufacturing. Under technology it looks at computing, data storage and display, sustainable solutions and digital transformation. It names four areas in total: healthcare drug development, life science tools, electronics, and frontier technology and sustainability. It says it invests with both a strategic and a financial aim, takes an active role in the companies it backs, and works alongside founders and co-investors. The imprint on its site names its German parent as the entity behind the website, and no separate Dutch legal entity is published there.
