Groningen
A non-profit Northern Netherlands career platform connecting English-speaking internationals with employers and jobs that do not require Dutch.
From the Flux Forward organisation register · Not edited on this site How we check thisHide
Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.
Every vacancy it lists can be applied for in English, so you can look for work in Groningen, Friesland or Drenthe before you have learned Dutch, and check what your residence permit card actually allows.
About
Make it in the North is a careers platform for the three northern Dutch provinces, Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. Its own pages describe it as a non-profit project created by a group of organisations in the region, among them business associations, universities and city governments, and funded by those bodies in three year cycles. It publishes vacancies and internships that can be applied for in English, profiles of companies in the north that hire internationals, and a calendar of events. Its written guidance covers writing a CV, looking for work, building a professional network, freelancing, and Dutch employment rules including contracts, collective agreements, holidays, working hours, and what the wording on a residence permit card means for the right to work. A separate section for employers covers hiring and welcoming international staff. It also runs a tool for matching company culture, a tool for mapping where you could live within a given commute, and a career roadmap for registered jobseekers. Visa and permit questions are referred to the International Welcome Center North.
What they offer
- Job and internship listings in the three northern provinces that can be applied for in English
- Profiles of employers in Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe that hire internationals
- Events including job hunt advice sessions, walk in advice and meetups for accompanying partners
- Company culture matching tool, commute mapping tool and career roadmap for registered jobseekers
Good to know
- Its geography is Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. Vacancies elsewhere in the Netherlands are outside its scope.
- It is a jobs platform and an information service. It does not place you in a job and is not a recruitment agency acting for you.
- It does not handle visas or residence permits, and refers those questions to the International Welcome Center North.
