About
New Energy Coalition is an organisation registered in Groningen whose partners are companies, governments and knowledge institutions working on the energy system. It describes itself as a coalition and a platform: partners join, set a shared agenda, exchange knowledge and ideas, and make agreements about the role of energy in the northern region. The partners named on its site include regional training colleges, a university of applied sciences, energy companies owned by the Dutch state, a gas transport and storage company, a seaport authority, municipalities in Groningen and Noord-Holland, and a German city government, so the work crosses the border as well as provincial lines. Its stated work area is the whole northern energy region, with a focus on the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe and on the northern part of Noord-Holland, which it presents as an area where energy infrastructure, long-standing knowledge and test sites sit close together. A second strand is people: the organisation says it wants to keep knowledge and skills in the region, works with knowledge institutions and businesses on energy-related education, and points students, young professionals, experienced professionals and employers to a regional career platform. Its main office is on Zernike Campus in Groningen, with a second office in Alkmaar.
