About
Nimbus takes shareholdings in companies and then works inside them rather than only supplying capital. The companies it describes buying have a healthy core activity but need transformational change, with annual turnover from about 20 million to around 500 million euro, in industry, manufacturing, services and technical trade. It works in the Benelux countries, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Scandinavia, and says corporate carve-outs and other special situations are familiar ground. It says it decides quickly whether to restructure, refinance or revitalise a company, keeps its portfolio small so that no partner handles more than three projects at a time, and puts its own managers on assignments instead of bringing in outside advisers. Its capital comes mainly from family offices. It invests through numbered funds and publishes a portfolio of industrial businesses with the year it came in and, where it applies, the year it left. Its Dutch office is on the Driebergseweg in Zeist, and the entries for Zeist and for Munich carry the same Dutch telephone number.
What they offer
- Buying stakes in medium sized industrial, manufacturing, service and technical trade companies
- Corporate carve-outs and other special situation transactions
- Placing its own managers inside the companies it has bought into
Good to know
- The companies it buys have turnover of roughly 20 million to 500 million euro, which is far above the size of a startup.
- What it describes is buy-out and special situations work rather than growth equity: restructuring, refinancing and corporate carve-outs, with its own managers placed inside the business.
- Its capital comes mainly from family offices rather than from institutional funds.
