About
Noorderpoort describes itself in its own privacy statement as a regionaal opleidingencentrum for the north and east of the Netherlands, where people can take a senior secondary vocational qualification. Teaching is grouped into twelve fields: creative professions; economics and enterprise; Entree; hospitality, bakery and tourism; information technology; laboratory and process technology; maritime; mobility, transport and logistics; engineering and construction; personal care; safety and security; and care and welfare. Students choose between the school based route and the work based route, in which most of the week is spent at an employer. The Entree programmes are for people aged sixteen and over who hold no diploma yet, and lead either to a level two course or to work. A second track serves adults who want to change direction or add to their trade knowledge, and employers who buy courses, modules or tailored in company training for their staff. Teaching is spread over locations in the city of Groningen and surrounding towns, and its Appingedam site sits on a campus shared by four secondary and vocational schools that work together. It is run by an executive board with a supervisory board above it.
