NP-Hard Ventures is a founder led venture capital firm investing at pre-seed and seed stage. It explains its name as a reference to the class of computer science problems that resist easy solutions, and says it backs founders who take those on. Its stated criteria are technical founding teams with deep domain expertise, companies based in Europe or the United States, and evidence that the team ships product quickly. Cheques are usually between 250,000 and 1 million euro, it aims to be one of the first investors in a company, and it says it does not require a board seat. It has invested from a first fund of 12 million euro across about thirty companies and is now investing a second fund focused on robotics, deep technology, compute, manufacturing and defence. Alongside investing it runs meetups, hackathons and demo nights in European cities. Founders are asked to write in by email. It publishes no office address, Dutch legal entity name or Chamber of Commerce number, and describes its footprint only as a presence in Amsterdam, Berlin and the Bay Area.
