About
OOG Groningen is the local broadcasting organisation for the municipality of Groningen. Its formal name is Stichting Omroeporganisatie Groningen, a foundation that operates without a profit motive and calls itself the local broadcaster of, for and by the residents of its coverage area. It runs the television channel OOG TV, the radio station OOG Radio, the news website oogtv.nl and a free news app. Editorial work is divided between desks for news, sport, culture and music, with reporting on city council debates and decisions, neighbourhood matters, culture and sport in the city. The site also publishes broadcast frequencies, a complaints procedure and ANBI charity information, and the newsroom takes student interns. Money earned from advertising is spent on local journalism, talent development and the organisation itself rather than paid out as profit. Its office is at Kadijk 4 in Groningen, and it also uses a post box address in the city.
