It holds one environmental permit covering the activities of all its residents and audits them against it each year, so a company moving onto the campus works under that permit instead of arranging one alone.

About
Planet B.io was founded in 2020, a year after DSM opened the Biotech Campus Delft to outside companies working in bioscience and biotechnology. It calls itself an open innovation hub and a triple helix organisation, meaning it works with industry, government and universities at the same time. On the campus it offers offices, laboratory space, shared areas and open ground for new building. Its support has three parts. Business support means introductions to corporates, accelerators, mentors and service providers in areas such as regulation, intellectual property, law and administration, plus access to interns and courses on the campus. Technical support covers genetics, analysis, process development and food applications, fermentation and downstream processing for scaling up, and safety. Financial support means introductions to biotech investment funds, angel investors and banks, and a voucher scheme run with the Province of South Holland. Companies based elsewhere can join as members and use the network, the analytical services and the shared equipment without moving in.
