Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

You can approach it without an introduction by submitting a deck through its own site, and its published condition is a strong link with Europe rather than a Dutch registration.

About

Rubio is a commercial venture capital firm in Amsterdam that invests in companies whose product itself produces a measurable social or environmental result, under two themes. One covers equal education, employment opportunities and access to affordable healthcare. The other covers decarbonising energy and industry, changing the food system and building a circular economy. It invests at seed and Series A, keeps money in reserve for later rounds in companies it already backs, and will lead, co-lead or follow a round. It says it is agnostic about business type, revenue model and industry, but sets conditions: a scalable commercial model, a track record suited to the stage, and a strong link with Europe. It states plainly what it will not fund: businesses at idea or distressed stage, businesses whose impact is indirect such as incubators, reporting tools or consultancies, and businesses that live mainly on government revenue. Founders submit a deck through the site, after which come introductory meetings, an investment memo, a committee decision on a term sheet, and due diligence.

What they offer

Good to know

  • It states what it will not fund: idea or distressed stage, businesses whose impact is indirect such as incubators, reporting tools or consultancies, and businesses living mainly on government revenue.
  • The impact has to be in the product itself, not in how the company operates. That is a narrower test than it first appears.
  • A commercial fund investing selectively for a shareholding, so most decks do not lead to an investment.
