About
SET Ventures is a venture capital investor with offices in Amsterdam and Hamburg. It was set up in 2007 to finance European clean energy technology and now concentrates on what it calls the digital energy economy: companies that make energy systems hyperlocal, automated and resilient. It has raised four funds, and states that the latest is classified as SFDR Article 9 and that team pay is linked to agreed impact outcomes, in partnership with the European Investment Fund. It normally invests at Series A, or somewhat before or after that point, putting 2 to 5 million euros into rounds of 3 to 10 million euros, and can add follow-on capital up to 15 million euros in a single company. It prefers to lead or co-lead a round, takes a board seat, and looks for an independent chairperson with industry experience. It invests across Europe, with most activity in the Benelux countries, the United Kingdom and the German-speaking countries. Its portfolio covers six areas: distributed energy systems, digital utilities, artificial intelligence and enabling technologies, industrial energy management, the built environment, and mobility and transport.
