About
Sociaal Werk De Kear is a local welfare organisation for the municipality of De Fryske Marren in Friesland. Its stated purpose is to help residents build on their own strengths and talents so that they keep control over their own lives, and to make villages and neighbourhoods stronger places to live. Its staff work on a set of everyday themes: liveable streets and villages, taking part in local life and doing voluntary work, healthy lifestyle, and informal care given to a relative or neighbour. Together with residents the organisation makes concrete plans for a street or village, and it supports initiatives that residents set up themselves. The organisation is divided into two area teams, team Noord and team Zuid, with offices at Midstraat 66 in Joure and Lijnbaan 8 in Lemmer. Each team holds a weekly walk-in hour that anyone may attend without an appointment.
