About

SportDrenthe is a foundation based in Assen that has worked since 1968 to get people in the province of Drenthe moving throughout their lives. It sets out its work as five themes. Meedoen, meaning taking part, is about making sport reachable whatever a person's age or life stage, gender, physical or mental health, ethnic or social background, sexual orientation, finances or social position. Infrastructuur covers lasting indoor and outdoor sport facilities, including making club buildings more sustainable. Sportclub Drenthe is a platform through which club advisers help Drenthe sports associations stay viable, covering boards, volunteers and finances. Onderwijs en Jeugd works on the motor, social and mental development of children and young people. Kenniscentrum Events advises on, guides and organises sport events in the province. The foundation also employs neighbourhood sport coaches and physical education teachers who are placed in Drenthe municipalities including Tynaarlo, Aa en Hunze, Meppel and Midden-Drenthe.
