About
Starterslift Investments is a pre-seed loan fund for startups in Noord-Brabant whose product or service is built on knowledge or research. It is registered as Starterslift Investments B.V. and gives an address in Tilburg. The fund has existed since 2006 and was made possible by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, the province of Noord-Brabant and the municipalities of Breda and Tilburg. Higher education institutions and regional development agencies in Brabant work together through it. It offers a single instrument: a convertible loan of up to fifty thousand euro for the earliest and most risky phase of a company, with published conditions that include no personal guarantee from the founder, the option of a period without repayments, and no penalty for repaying early. It is a loan rather than a grant, and the fund states that repayment is what lets it help the next round of startups. It used to give startups coaching as well, and says that work is now done by business developers at the partner institutions.
