About
Stichting Mano is a foundation with an office on the Eendrachtsweg in Rotterdam. It builds programmes so that people who are not automatically part of city life can find and use their own abilities, with participants deciding the direction themselves. The groups it names are status holders and refugees, Rotterdam residents with a migration background, and children and young people from households with little money. SamenDoorSamen combines training, education programmes and guidance towards work for status holders in the city, and uses ambassadors who are newcomers with their own experience of the same route. On behalf of the municipality of Rotterdam, Mano organises day activities and mental support at asylum and transit reception locations in the city, together with several partners. Its mental health workers run a walk-in session called the Uitpufspreekuur, group meetings, and training for newcomers in emergency reception and for people who fled Ukraine. Taal en thema teaches Dutch through everyday subjects such as health, managing money and raising children. Helpende Handen is a learn-and-work route in which new residents make a newly allocated home liveable, with home repair training and a look at construction as a career. Mano also trains Rotterdam language volunteers and delivers training and project support for other social sector organisations.

- Mano works in Rotterdam. Several of its programmes are commissioned by the municipality or run inside reception locations, so who can join can depend on where someone is housed.
- A support foundation. It does not decide residence status, housing allocation or benefit applications.
