About
Stichting Present Groningen links people who want to volunteer with people in the municipality of Groningen who need help. Its unit of work is the one off group project. A group of roughly three to five volunteers, who are not tradespeople and are not paid, gives a day or part of a day to a job a household cannot manage alone. Typical work is a thorough clean, clearing out and taking away unwanted belongings, a garden makeover, painting walls, laying laminate or helping with a move, and groups also arrange social activities for people with few contacts. Present states who the help is for: people who cannot do the job themselves, have no family or friends nearby to help, and cannot pay anyone to do it. The resident does not apply directly. A care or welfare professional submits the request and stays the contact point between the volunteers, Present and the person receiving help, and anyone without such a professional is pointed to a neighbourhood team. Once a group is found, a Present staff member and the professional visit the home together to agree what will be done and which materials and tools are needed, and both are there at the start of the project day. The foundation has ANBI status and publishes an annual report.
