The Gate is a joint startup desk for the Brainport Eindhoven region rather than a company or foundation in its own right. Six organisations run it together: the technical university, the regional development agency, a university of applied sciences, a vocational college, the provincial development company and the municipality. It describes itself as an independent entry point into the region's high tech network for people in the first stage of starting a technology business, and names entrepreneurial students, scientists and technology starters as the people it works with. What it offers is walk-in hours, business developers who give assistance, advice and coaching, an academy of masterclasses and workshops, and referral to service partners. The six partners contribute support in housing, funding, training and coaching. Walk-in hours and academy sessions take place at High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, by appointment. Its own domain redirects into a section of the regional website where its pages sit. Its stated goal is to increase both the number and the quality of high tech startups in the region.
