About
The Happy Expats supports international professionals in the Netherlands with career development, individual coaching and navigating work and life in a Dutch context, and it works with multicultural teams through customised coaching programmes focused on communication, collaboration, trust and change. It was created in 2024 by two coaches and now works as a coaching collective. There are three ways in. Individual coaching runs as three 90-minute sessions over about two and a half months, face to face in Utrecht within walking distance of Centraal Station or online, with reflection work and assignments between sessions. Boost Your Career is an online programme of nine self-paced modules with coaching alongside it, covering strengths and direction, a LinkedIn profile and CV that work in the Dutch market, and how Dutch hiring operates; a shorter LinkedIn profile audit is sold on its own. Team coaching is tailor-made work for employers, typically four to six months, built around a team intake, individual intakes and at least six group sessions, and covering team development, leadership, feedback, conflict and support through change. The specialism it states is the gap international professionals meet in Dutch working culture: the unwritten rules about directness, hierarchy and consensus. All coaching is available in English and most coaches also work in Dutch.

Good to know
- Paid coaching, sold as programmes. Prices are published on the site and move, including introduction rates, so read the current figure rather than a remembered one.
- It works on careers, communication, leadership and team development. It handles nothing to do with residence permits, registration, housing or recognition of foreign qualifications.
- Its own guidance for individual coaching is that it suits people who have been in the Netherlands for at least a year, and that it is too early before that. Online coaching is offered to people living outside the Netherlands as well.
- Face-to-face sessions are held in Utrecht only. Everything else is online.
