About
TIN Capital is a private venture capital firm in the Netherlands and, by its own account, one of the oldest in Europe. It was started in 1998 by a group of entrepreneurs as an informal investors network, which grew into a community of more than a thousand private investors and later became a structured fund manager taking money from family offices, corporates and institutional investors. In December 2023 it dropped the word informal from its name, and older references to the former name describe the same firm. It has run seven funds since 1998. Since 2018 it has invested only in security technology, and it states that it is the only investment firm based in the Benelux with that specialisation. Its current vehicle opened at the end of 2023 and is described as a 100 million euro fund for European startups and scale-ups in cybersecurity, security for connected devices, privacy enhancing technology, national and economic security technology and cyber liability insurance software. Its site says it funds Series A and B rounds. It keeps a head office in Amsterdam and a second office at the Security Delta campus in The Hague.
What they offer
- Series A and B venture capital investment in European security technology companies
- Network access for portfolio companies across ecosystems, government related partners and corporates

Good to know
- Since 2018 it invests only in security technology.
- It funds Series A and B rounds, so a pre-revenue company is earlier than its stated entry point.
- It publishes no ticket size or investment range; the only figure it gives is the size of its current fund.
