From the Flux Forward organisation register · Not edited on this site How we check this

Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

The relevance reaches people who already work inside the research organisation: an international researcher employed there can use the founder route to build a company around their own research.

About

TNO Ventures brings research from TNO, the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, to the market. It was formed in May 2025 out of the organisation's tech transfer programme, which began in 2017, and carries that programme's work forward; both names refer to the same unit. Three routes are used: setting up a new spin-off company around a TNO technology, granting licences to organisations that already operate in the relevant market, and taking technology participations in scale-ups outside its own spin-off portfolio. The unit concentrates on the last stages of the innovation process, helping to develop the business case and decide the route to market, and it gives startups and scale-ups access to TNO knowledge, technology and facilities in fields such as artificial intelligence, medical technology and integrated photonics. Its own pages address three groups: TNO researchers who want to become founders, investors interested in the spin-offs, and organisations that want to work with TNO or with a spin-off. The disclaimer on its site names TNO as the organisation behind the website, so this is a unit inside a research organisation rather than a separately registered firm.

What they offer

Good to know

  • It is a unit of a public applied research organisation, not an independent firm, and its published contact details are the parent organisation's.
  • The spin-off route is for researchers inside that organisation. Nothing on its site is addressed to people who have recently arrived in the Netherlands.
  • Its technology comes from one research organisation, so a company is built around that organisation's work rather than its own.
