About
TopDutch is a regional brand and information site covering the three northern Dutch provinces of Groningen, Fryslan and Drenthe. Its own pages describe the brand as a collective that communicates the green, digital and talent strengths of the region together with regional partners and the media. The organisation behind it is NV NOM, the investment and development agency for the northern Netherlands: NOM is the legal agency, and TopDutch is the brand and platform it operates, with a wider remit than investment promotion alone. The NOM foreign investment team uses the site to reach companies abroad, offering initial advice on taxation, subsidies and funding, customs rules, national and regional law, permits and regulations, workforce and finding staff, and visa requirements. It then follows a set sequence: an industry bidbook, an alignment meeting, a company-specific bidbook, a fact-finding visit to the region and, where co-investment is needed, an investor roundtable. The site groups the regional economy into agrifood, green chemistry, water technology, digital innovation, energy, and life sciences and health, and publishes separate sections on doing business, working, studying and settling in the north.
What they offer
- Industry and company-specific bidbooks for investors considering the region
- Fact-finding visits and investor roundtables arranged with regional public and private contacts
- Regional information sections on doing business, working, studying and settling in the north
Good to know
- The investment services are delivered by NOM's foreign investment team, and NOM is the legal agency that stands behind them. TopDutch itself is the brand and the website.
- Its advice is addressed to companies considering the region, including on visa requirements and hiring, rather than to individuals arranging their own move.
- Its area is Groningen, Fryslan and Drenthe. Other Dutch regions are served by their own development agencies.
- It gives orientation and introductions; permits, subsidies and tax rulings are decided by the responsible authorities.
