Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

The relevance to someone who has recently moved to Fryslan is cultural rather than practical. The company performs in Frisian and in mixed languages and says it wants to be there for all residents of the province.

About

Tryater is the multilingual theatre company of Fryslan and forms part of the Dutch national cultural basic infrastructure. Its building, with a foyer and a main and a small auditorium, is at Oostersingel 70 in Leeuwarden. The Frisian language has a set place in its productions, which are made in Frisian or in a mix of languages, and the company states that it wants to be there for all residents of the province. It tours across Fryslan, and alongside its own auditoriums it makes location theatre in places where communities already gather, such as a sports club canteen, an open-air swimming pool, a school or a village square. It programmes school shows with age ratings from four upwards. Its staff structure includes coordinators for talent development, for education and interaction, for diversity and inclusion, for accessibility and for international work. Access is arranged per production: the foyer and both auditoriums can be reached by people who have difficulty walking, a number of performances are subtitled or use smart glasses for deaf and hard of hearing visitors, and the foundation Komt het Zien! helps make productions followable for blind and partially sighted visitors.
